Central Whidbey Island Fire & Rescue (CWIFR) serves 50 square miles of Central Whidbey Island from three fire stations: on Main Street in Coupeville, on Day Road in Greenbank, and just east of the intersection of State Routes 20 and 525 on Race Road. We also maintain automatic aid agreements with North Whidbey Fire and Rescue and South Whidbey Fire/EMS to ensure a response from the closest stations in the northern and southern ends of the district.

Postal zip codes do not align with fire district boundaries which often creates some confusion as to which fire and rescue service serves a particular area.

For example, the area along and just north of Libbey Road has a Coupeville zip code but is served by North Whidbey Fire and Rescue (along with automatic aid from CWIFR). Similarly, some areas along Smugglers Cove Road, State Route 525, and Honeymoon Bay Road have a Freeland zip code but are served by CWIFR (along with automatic aid from South Whidbey Fire/EMS).
