Paul Messner joined Fire District #5 in 1973 and served at the Admirals Cove Fire Station and was elected to his first term as commissioner in 1985. Paul and his wife, Marilyn have lived in the Central Whidbey area for 55 years. Both of them and their three daughters have graduated from Coupeville High School. Paul’s past community involvement includes coaching youth softball, basketball, and soccer. Paul’s hobbies include riding his motorcycle, fly fishing, and watching his grandchildren grow up. Paul retired in 2003 from Island County after 30 years as the Facilities Director. Commissioner Messner is looking forward to continuing his service to the community as a Fire Commissioner for Central Whidbey Island Fire & Rescue. Commissioner Messner’s term of office runs through 2023.
