EMS Week

Each year, EMS Week serves as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the important work EMS professionals do in communities across the nation.

Central Whidbey Island Fire & Rescue would like to thank our EMS providers and the many partners who help make emergency response possible every day — including 911 dispatchers, first responders, paramedics, EMTs, ambulance crews, and air medical services.

Whether responding to medical emergencies, providing critical care, supporting patients in crisis, or working alongside crews on scene, EMS professionals play an essential role in serving our community.

We are grateful for the dedication, compassion, teamwork, and commitment shown by EMS professionals each and every day.

Outdoor Burning
Outdoor burning requirements vary depending on burn size, location, and current burn restrictions. Small recreational and residential burns may require a verbal permit, while larger burns may require permits through Island County Public Health. Burn bans and air quality restrictions may also impact burning activities.

CPR & First Aid Classes
Central Whidbey Island Fire & Rescue periodically offers community CPR and first aid training opportunities. Class schedules may vary throughout the year based on community interest and instructor availability.

Free Address Signs
Reflective address signs are available for homes and businesses within our district to help emergency responders locate addresses more quickly during emergencies.

Volunteering
Interested in volunteering with CWIFR? Volunteer opportunities may include firefighting, emergency medical response, support services, and community involvement.

Community Event Participation
CWIFR participates in a variety of community events throughout the year including educational outreach, preparedness events, public safety demonstrations, and local festivals.

Knox Boxes
Knox Boxes provide emergency responders with secure access to commercial properties, gated communities, and other secured locations during emergencies.

Non-Emergency vs. Emergency Calls
If you are experiencing an emergency, always call 911. For general questions, records requests, burn information, or non-emergency assistance, community members may contact the district directly during business hours.

Smoke & Air Quality Concerns
Smoke complaints and outdoor air quality concerns are generally handled through Island County Public Health and the Northwest Clean Air Agency.
